M-WRAP is a free, voluntary recovery support program for pregnant women with current or past substance use disorder (SUD). The program is grant-funded by the New Jersey Department of Human Services (DHS), Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS).

The M-WRAP program was first launched state-wide in 2018 to address the complex needs of pregnant/postpartum women with opioid use disorder. The program has since expanded to provide for the needs of pregnant/postpartum women with any substance use disorder.

This free, voluntary, client-centered, non-clinical recovery support program seeks to help clients initiate, strengthen, or sustain their recovery. Our wraparound recovery support services include the following:

Intensive Case Management

• Connect clients to medical and prenatal care
• Refer clients to substance use treatment services that address the specific needs of pregnant women
• Assist clients with navigating admissions paperwork, applications, and other tasks that need to be completed to successfully access services
• Advocate for clients when needed to eliminate barriers to accessing services
• Help clients connect with community resources that may help them meet the ongoing needs of their family

Peer Recovery Support

• Create a safe space for clients to share openly about their substance use and recovery challenges
• Serve as a mentor for clients, modeling recovery skills, and sharing first-hand recovery experience
• Share resources and accompany clients to local community resource agencies
• Share and discuss different recovery tools and strategies
• Educate clients about the recovery process
• Assist clients with developing a recovery support network
• Provide transportation for medical, clinical, and supportive care needs, as needed, until access to reliable transportation can be secured
• Support, encourage, and advocate for clients to help them successfully navigate any possible DCP&P (formerly DYFS) involvement

M-WRAP staff can meet with clients in our Paramus or Paterson office, in the community, or via telehealth.
