Harbor House Partial Hospitalization Program

The Harbor House Program offers Acute Partial Hospital (APH) and Partial Hospitalization (PH) services for adults 18 years of age or older residing in Passaic County. APH services provide stabilization of acute symptomatology in order to prevent the need for inpatient psychiatric hospitalization. PH services work with clients to help them achieve community integration through valued living, learning, working and social roles that facilitate recovery and enhance wellness.

Both APH and PH are client-centered programs for adults with a history of serious and persistent mental illness and functional limitations. In order to be eligible for services, potential clients must be referred by the local designated screening center or psychiatric emergency service as a diversion from hospitalization, or by an inpatient psychiatric facility or other intensive psychiatric service, if the treating psychiatrist/APN clearly justifies acute clinical need.  Harbor House offers distinct services for co-occurring disorders, monolingual Spanish speakers and deaf clients. Using evidence based practices, we embrace the philosophy of wellness and recovery.

The balance between recovery and clinical services is accomplished  through the provision of individualized, comprehensive, nonresidential, structured programming which provides counseling, case management, psychoeducation, prevocational services, social and leisure services, and psychiatric services.

Program hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday.
