Due to the overwhelming Opioid Epidemic, S&N's new Admissions Director has increased the availability of Walk-in admissions into our Detoxification unit that meets medical criteria for admission. Monday-Friday 8:30 am-2:00 pm, Saturday 9:00 am-12:00 pm.

In addition to extensive drug and alcohol rehabilitation services, we operate child care centers, permanent supportive housing, a medical daycare center, and the Family Success Center throughout Passaic County.

Headquartered in Paterson, NJ, Straight & Narrow is the largest program of its kind.

Straight & Narrow offers three residential treatment (ASAM Level III.5) programs for women: Alpha I, Alpha II, and Alpha III. Our goal is to offer trauma-informed compassionate care that is sensitive to the unique needs of women.

Medically Monitored Inpatient Withdrawal Management Level 3.7WM (Detox)- organized service delivered by medical and nursing professionals, which provides 24-hr medically supervised evaluation to consumers whose withdrawal signs and symptoms are sufficiently severe to require 24-hour medical monitoring.

The program at O’Connor hall is designed to prepare men with substance use disorders for community integration as productive, contributing members of society. Each client is required to complete a series of developmental phases, each designed to prepare the client for community reintegration. Each client will be evaluated at the end of each treatment phase by the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT). The MDT is made up of a residential supervisor, employment counselor, primary counselor, and clinical director. The MDT function is to evaluate the client’s treatment progress and make clinical recommendations.

MWC is an outpatient Medication-Assisted Treatment and detoxification program that has been in operation since 1971 providing outpatient care to adult men and women who are opiate addicted. As part of its compendium of treatment services, MWC provides specialized services to women who are pregnant, HIV-positive individuals, and individuals that are involved in the criminal justice system.

MWC provides a medically monitored treatment regimen; individual and group counseling; gender-specific groups for women; testing, counseling, and referral (when applicable) for pregnant women; counseling for HIV; education about opioid addiction; education about Methadone; family and couples counseling and 12-step education. Case management and referral services are provided for addiction recovery (when applicable), housing, employment, primary healthcare, and mental health problems.

In February 2000, Straight & Narrow opened a 23-unit independent living apartment facility for low-income individuals with special medical needs. In May of 2003, Straight & Narrow celebrated the opening of a second facility, a new, 50-unit apartment complex for homeless men and women who have special medical needs.

Straight & Narrow’s two early childhood education and learning centers provide quality childcare to the children of Paterson’s low-income families. La Vida II, located at 116 Jackson Street in Paterson, is an Abbott preschool for three and four-year-old children. 

Family Success Center

The FSC is a one-stop community center providing services to individuals and families of Paterson and surrounding communities.

The FSC is a primary and secondary prevention program whose goal is to strengthen families and promote economic self-sufficiency. It is a multi-agency partnership that provides various services and referrals to individuals and their families.

Services include information and linkages to various resources (housing, maternal health, medical care, etc), economic self-sufficiency/employment-related services, parent education and support, life skills training (budgeting, nutrition, etc.), parent-child activities, development of "Family Success" plan and advocacy, among other.

Services provided are at no cost and are available to all individuals and their families, not just those that have been identified as at-risk. Family Success Centers are designed to create partnerships between families, leaders, and community agencies.
