Career Clothing Boutique: Operated by Women in Transition

The Chic Boutique is a career closet collection of ever-changing, current and classic professional attire for women, according to Lauren Hout, job skills trainer and computer teacher for Women In Transition. Its goal is to take the guesswork out of what to wear and fashion women with free, professional interview and workplace clothing.

WIT is funded through a grant from the state Department of Children and Families Division on Women. Its goal is to serve women who have lost support due to separation, divorce, widowhood or disability of their spouse, in addition to victims of domestic abuse.

WIT assists displaced homemakers with seeking employment, finding better paying work or upgrading their skills in order to advance. In addition they assist those concerned about choosing the right type of work, writing a resume, negotiating salary and interviewing confidently. They also offer computer classes, support groups and workshops on job-related topics in a confidential and supportive atmosphere.

The Chic Boutique can be shopped anonymously with assistance from employees or other women in the program.

Anyone looking to utilize services offered by WIN must call for an intake interview and upon completion of the interview may participate in any of the classes, workshops, and services, including the boutique.
